SERVE GOD; SPREAD LOVE
…is the mission of First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ), Daytona Beach, Florida. As an ethnically and economically diverse congregation whose members backgrounds range from business owners to retirees to those in addiction recovery and/or recently homeless, FCC has a long established witness of spreading the love of God by serving the needs of others throughout community.
Palmetto House, a transitional housing facility, sits next door to the church. It was established in 1995 by FCC members and community members; that birthed and now is a part of a larger entity known as, “Mid-Florida Housing”. Today FCC prepares and serves “Saturday Night Dinner” to Palmetto House residents. Our “Bus Pass Ministry” provides complimentary passes to residents for purposes of job interviews, going to work at a new job, doctor’s appointments, recovery meetings and court appointments.
With many Palmetto House residents committing to God through becoming a part of the FCC family, FCC has implemented a new ministry, “Celebrate Recovery”. Celebrate Recovery is a Bible based, Christ centered 12 step and 8 principal program for all types of addictions, as well as those struggling with personal hurts or hang-ups.
God continues to lead the members of FCC through prayer so that God’s love is spread as we serve. What better way to show the love of Christ than serving the needs of others?
