Renown and well traveled Christian Speaker, Krista Johnson will be at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Daytona Beach for two very interesting and informative sessions.

August 9 (Saturday) Noon:  Krista will be presenting a FREE Power Point photographic visual journey with her personal stories.  Reservations are NOT needed.  The general public is encouraged to attend this informative event.

August 10 (Sunday Worship Service) 10:45 AM:  Krista Johnson will be delivering her sermon titled:  "Searching for Hope in Israel/Palestine" utilizing scriptures Isaiah 58: 6-12 and Luke 19: 37-42.

Krista Johnson is a member of Southport Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She graduated in 2005 from Chapman University with a B.A. in Peace Studies and a minor in Political Science.  At Chapman University Krista co-founded a student activism group, coordinated a teach-in about the Wall in Palestine, and was active with Habitat for Humanity and Disciples on Campus.  She also had the opportunity to serve as a Higher Education and Leadership Ministries Leadership Fellow.  Krista enjoyed traveling during her college career: studying in Northern Ireland, traveling to India, and researching in South Africa. She spent summers in the Appalachian Mountains teaching about Economic Justice and rebuilding homes, led an arts-based Summer program for children in Washington, DC, and traveled to church camps around the country to teach high school students about peace and justice issues as a Disciples Peace Intern.  Krista has recently completed a two- year term as a Global Mission Intern in Jerusalem where she was working with Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center.  She will begin a M.A. in Conflict Transformation at Eastern Mennonite University in the fall.
