Call to Worship

L:         We are many members.

P:         There is one body.

L:         We are many voices.

P:         There is one word.

L:         We are many hopes.

P:         There is one vision.            Though we are many, let us be one in our worship.

Prayer of Adoration and the Lord’s Prayer in unison:             Holy and merciful God, we gather as your church, called to confess you as Lord and Savior to a world that know you not; called to be the body of Christ to serve the poor, the sick, the imprisoned and “the least of these”; called to exercise our variety and abundance of gifts to further your will, not ours, and called to proclaim like Peter, the truth of who you are. Grant us clarity of purpose, courage of conviction and compassion for those who have lost their way. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Sermon:  “Daring Impossible Questions"

Prayer of Confession:

O God, we confess that we allow what divides us to be more important than what unites us. We confess that we value our individual desires more than your common good. We confess that we prefer to conform to worldly success rather than to be transformed by holy sacrifice. Forgive us our imperfect vision and return us to perfect obedience.  Amen.

Assurance of Forgiveness:

God is among us. God is a creative, loving power in the universe on whom we can depend. God smiles on us, even when we test and demand proof. Blessed are you when you make honest confession and seek to be a part of God’s wider circle. Move out of the wilderness of sin. You are forgiven, set free, and given the power to live more fully. Praise God!
